Job Description:We are looking for a skilled Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Ottawa, Ontario. This role involves managing a variety of accounting tasks for a construction industry client, including payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in bookkeeping within a unionized environment and a strong understanding of accounting software, particularly Jonas.Responsibilities:
  • Perform full-cycle payroll processing for under 100 employees using Jonas Software.
  • Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including collections on overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile credit card transactions and oversee expense reporting to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain up-to-date financial records.
  • Prepare and review billing statements and invoices for accuracy and compliance.
  • Utilize accounting software systems to maintain financial data and generate reports.
  • Collaborate with team members to address financial discrepancies and implement solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with unionized environment regulations and standards.
  • Provide support for financial audits and other reporting requirements as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Proficiency with Jonas Software is required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting functions, including AP, AR, and full-cycle payroll.
  • Familiarity with accounting software systems and financial tools.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience managing credit card reconciliations and expense reporting.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
