We are looking for 5 Metal Fabricator Fitter's to join our team. This position involves working a 40-hour work week, with Day Shift and with Saturday and Sunday as off days.What You Will Do
- Producing or repairing components for vehicles and other powered equipment and stationary equipment as well as other fixtures, jigs and structures made from ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including plate, tube and structural steel
- Performing forging operations, tempering, hardening or annealing by specified methods of heating/cooling
- Maintaining arc welding equipment and oxy/acetylene torches by inspecting, testing, checking calibration status, adjusting, etc.
- Maintain and organize a stock of raw material required for ongoing jobs/projects and general fabrication
- Storing welding consumables by inspecting consumables, maintaining storage conditions and protecting and replacing defective items
- Using drawings, specifications and codes to identify fabrication requirements for an assembly and listing material requirements
- Developing a sequence of assembly by verifying component dimensions and assembly composition
- Developing templates and lay out patterns
- Assembling subcomponents and components by preparing a job for welding, etc.; and welding components
- Working with other trades and Technical Support Services to fabricate parts or assemblies and heat treat metals, etc.
- Possession of a valid Metal Fabricator (Fitter) Certificate of Qualification (437A) and/or Red Seal, plus three (3) years of practical work experience as a Welder (Fitter)
- Must demonstrate an ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Requires a valid class G Province of Ontario driver's license
- Must pass tests that correspond in knowledge, theory and practical requirements of the job
- Successfully complete a TTC approved Metallurgy course, on own time, within the first year of being in the job
- Successful candidates must attend and successfully complete TTC training programs for forklift and pallet lift operation, safe use of hoist and overhead cranes, oxyacetylene torch awareness, WHMIS, and respiratory protection.
- This position requires wearing a respirator. Human rights accommodations on the type of respirator may be provided.
- Must complete the American Welding Society (AWS) certifications for MIG, TIG and Stick welding
- Incumbents must provide and maintain a set of tools as per the TTC's established tool list. Specialized tools will be provided by the TTC.
