We are looking for a Business Analyst for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.

We are looking for a Business Analyst with a strong technical and business acumen. The chosen individual will engage in finance and treasury initiatives, focusing on corporate banking for offshore businesses. The role entails close collaboration with SMEs across business and functional areas, overseeing project planning, management, coordination, and execution for designated projects. Stakeholders for these projects are based in Calgary and various international locations.The preferred candidate should possess experience in extracting business requirements, facilitating workshops, developing process descriptions and procedural documentation, constructing workflows, and recording standards and policies. Additionally, the ability to manage intricate business scenarios and dynamic groups of stakeholders, while harmonizing concurrent corporate endeavors, is crucial.Key Responsibilities
  • Elicit business requirements using requirements gathering sessions, interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis and develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Lead and participate in process reviews or development and updates to or creation of associated documentation working with stakeholders, collaborating with analysts from Finance teams.
  • Participate in standards and process creation, reviews, updates, development and documentation.
  • Deliver and/or participate in standards, policies or process education and awareness.
  • Successfully engage, drive and facilitate multiple initiatives and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Work independently with users to define concepts or workflows and under the direction of project managers and key business stakeholders.
  • Develop test/QA and transition strategy plans and documentation.
  • Document test outcomes and manage defect resolution processes.
  • Develop detailed documentation including process flows and use cases.
  • Collaborate with project team members, internal stakeholders, and external banks including subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
  • Facilitate discussions on process re-engineering options where applicable to switch from manual process to electronic, automated options.
  • Be the liaison between the project teams, technology teams and support teams
  • Manage and execute required stakeholder and client engagement across project deliverables to support project plan and scope outline.
  • Collaborate with project team members to progress the project forward as per project plan and scope outline
  • Work closely with People Readiness team (OCM, Communications, Learning) to help identify / validate stakeholder change impacts, provide technical review of communications and contribute to training curriculum and learning content.
  • Manage and participate in Transition to Operations scope and activities for services and/or products built by the project team.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional requirements (business requirements document), use cases, workflow diagrams, and context diagrams.
  • Engagement in QA activities, including requirements validation and traceability, where applicable.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar capacity.
  • Direct working experience or project experience in Finance/Treasury business projects.
  • Experience in banking projects and/or projects with Asia-Pacific banking structure would be considered an asset.
  • Oil & Gas / Energy industry experience would be considered an asset.
  • Flexible and willing to accommodate work hours in the early morning or evening in order to participate in meetings with offshore stakeholders.
