The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) program provides world-class cardiovascular care. One of the largest programs of its kind in North America, we are a major referral centre. Our program offers resources and expertise prepared to deal with even the most complex patient cases. As a member of the Electrophysiology (EP) team, you will work directly with PMCC clinicians supporting their work. You will ensure patients visiting the EP clinic have a world class experience and ensure they receive the care they require in a timely manner.Duties
- Scheduling patients for appointments
- Greeting and registering patients for appointments
- Screening patient inquiries and directing them to appropriate resources
- Preparing and prepping charts for scanning
- Utilizing excellent time management skills as well as advanced data management tools to facilitate the maintenance, interpretation and transfer of important data fields from complex documents/materials
- Maintaining and organizing paper information filing/retrieving methods, systems or formats
- Performing clerical responsibilities
- On listing and off listing patients to CorHealth
- At minimum completion of high school or equivalent
- Successful completion of a recognized data entry program or post-secondary Medical Secretary/Medical Business Office Program at the Diploma or Certification Level preferred
- Current medical clerical/data entry experience for a minimum of 2 years
- Current experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent including Excel, Word, database and spreadsheet programs
- Excellent data entry/keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
- Experience in a health care environment and a strong understanding of medical terminology
- Excellent time management skills required and the ability to complete detailed work independently
- Ability to understand verbal work orders/instructions and to follow up appropriately
- Ability to read and understand short notes, brief forms/instructions, detailed forms, standard memos/letters
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages, ratios and/or averages
- Ability to operate simple equipment
- Some problem solving skills
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with UHN standards
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
