We are looking for a Business Analyst for a 1-year contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.Role Summary
Our client is hiring a technical and business-focused Business Analyst. Successful candidate could be assigned to one of the business process projects that will be enabled by the implementation of selected solutions. This role will report to the project manager and work closely with business/functional areas, and provide overall project planning, management, coordination, and execution for assigned projects.This opportunity will appeal to an individual who enjoys working as an individual and in a team environment, and who demonstrates effective critical thinking, problem-solving and facilitation skills, is adaptable and able effectively complete deliverables in a timely fashion. This Business Analyst will also utilize standard best practices as required to support the activity execution, and has a key understanding of transition to operations, and development of processes and procedures.The ideal candidate will have experience with eliciting business requirements, facilitating workshops, developing process descriptions and procedural documentation, building workflows, documenting standards and policies. It is also important for the candidate to have experience and strength in managing complex business scenarios and dynamic stakeholder groups and ensuring effective synchronizations between competing corporate initiatives.Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in facilitating working sessions and documenting results for the mapping of source fields to target fields between ERP and Connected Applications.
  • Perform initial Data QA / completeness checks on finalized functional design specifications.
  • Steward completed documents through the approval/sign-off process, including providing background and facilitating clarifying discussions (as required) for reviewers and approvers.
  • Clarify questions on the functional design specifications for developers.
  • Participate in data standards and process creation, reviews, updates, development and documentation.
  • Be the liaison between the project teams, technology teams and sustainment teams.
  • Manage and execute required stakeholder and client engagement across project deliverables to support project plan and scope outline.
  • Collaborate with project team members to progress the project forward as per project plan and scope outline.
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true need.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements to deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional requirements (business requirements document), use cases, workflow diagrams, and context diagrams.
Required Experience
  • At least 10 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar capacity.
  • Direct working experience or project experience in business areas or functions.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and finance processes is a must have.
  • ERP experience specifically in SAP ECC or SAP S/4 HANA is a strong asset.
  • Oil &Gas/Energy industry experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with systems and data integration including underlying data and business process flows.
  • Experience with middleware technologies is an asset.
  • Experience with data analysis and ability to assess impacts to data due to changing processes.
  • Organization and relationship building skills.
  • Highly effective communicator.
  • Displays emotional intelligence; demonstrates self-awareness and remains calm under pressure.
