Description :SMS Equipment continues to grow its Underground operations and is seeking an Underground Field Technician / Underground Technical Specialist to join our team in Val-d’Or, QC. Fluency in French is required for this position.In this role, you will use your technical expertise to support Komatsu underground equipment, with a strong focus on safety, customer fleets, and hands-on work across a range of underground heavy equipment and attachments. Schedule: 5x2 *Additional market premium brings rate to approximately $52.97 per hour. Other assignment-based premiums and allowances may apply.What You’ll Do
Perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on underground heavy equipment and attachments.
Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment and provide recommendations on the extent of repairs.
Complete new equipment pre-delivery inspections, paperwork and options installations.
Complete service reports, timecards, warranty claim documentation, procedure creation and maintenance as required.
Define work scope to be completed and create a work schedule accordingly.
Work Environment:
This position will be required to work in confining underground environments at customer sites.
This position may work remotely in adverse conditions.
The successful candidate must be willing to travel within Quebec and occasionally to other SMS Equipment locations.
What You BringThe successful candidate will have completed their Heavy-Duty Mechanic Diploma or Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET) certification, with at least 3 years of experience in underground heavy equipment maintenance. Other requirements include:
Experience in underground equipment repairs and overhauls.
Troubleshooting experience with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
Strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety, including understanding and complying with all requirements.
A commitment to maintaining and promoting a safe work environment.
Modular Mine Worker Training (FMTM) – Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 is an asset
Individual General Explosive Permit through QC government is an asset.
