(BMH3xR1)Our client, a leader in the Distribution of steel products, is looking for a spirited accounting professional to join their team. This role reports to the Controller.Responsibilities:
- Bank Reconciliations: Daily reconciliation of bank statements and resolve discrepancies
- Account Reconciliations: Update and maintain account reconciliations
- Journal Entry: Prepare and record monthly journal entries
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and update various internal financial reports
- Inter-company: Report and reconcile inter-company accounts
- Government Reporting: Prepare working files for GST/HST/QST, and Statistics Canada/other statutory reporting
- Letter of Credit: Preparation and maintenance of Letter of Credit contracts
- Support Month-End Closing: Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Assist with Audits: Collaborate with the accounting team during audits, ensuring compliance and accurate record-keeping
- Ad Hoc Projects: Collaborate on special financial projects and assignments as needed
- University degree or College Diploma
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Quick learner and proficient computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, ERP system accounting modules)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
