The successful candidate will have the following;Bachelor of Physical Education, Kinesiology or related degree preferredExperience in a fitness or exercise related field as a personal trainerGroup Fitness certification and experience in Group Strength, Older Adult, Cycle, Yoga, Cardio is considered an assetCurrent Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector SearchThree professional references requiredWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Duties and Responsibilities include;Provide excellent customer service by identifying the needs and wants of members/participants as a priority and responding in an effective and timely mannerPerform program and instructional duties as outlined by the Health & Fitness SupervisorProvide leadership to member special events and workshops/presentations as outlined by the Health & Fitness SupervisorAssist with the supervision of all volunteers working in the conditioning centerShow members how to use the cardio equipment and strength and conditioning machinesProvide a strong presence on the strength and conditioning floor, engaging with and assisting members, answering questions, providing adult and youth orientations while role modeling positive behaviorsUse the Engage more tool to facilitate meaningful and goal focused relationship-building with membersEncourage members to participate “activity challenges/events” offeredActively solicit members' feedback regarding the YMCA and facilitiesActively identify members who need an orientation program or follow-upScan the environment and ensure the conditioning centre's equipment is clean, in good repair, and that safety hazards are removedWhat qualities do we look for in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers?Our diverse team of staff and volunteers are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
