
Disability Case Manager - Remote Opportunity

- Review of medical, functional/cognitive, employment and contractual information of new and ongoing claims to determine initial and ongoing entitlement for benefits in accordance with the client’s policies
- Proactively manage claims through identification of appropriate cost-effective measures to assist employees with their recovery and return to work
- Effectively communicate verbal and written decisions (approvals or declines) to all stakeholders
- Maintains regular professional contact with clients in regard to employee claim status
- Develop and execute comprehensive case management plans including implementation of return-to-work programs and accommodation within the workplace
- Respond to inquiries from claimants, employers, physicians, lawyers, and internal business partners
- Ensure all case managements notes and records are accurately documented and maintained
- Work collaboratively and communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers
- Active participation in Return to Health team meetings
- Participate in case conference calls or meetings with clients upon request – some travel may be required
- Provide education and support to employers on disability management best practices and AODA requirements
- Co-ordinate Medical Consultant discussions and referrals for file reviews, as required
- Professionally resolve employee or client complaint/concerns and service issues
- Attend occasional client meetings, that may include travel
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in an area of health or behavioral sciences
- Minimum of 3 years short/long term disability claims management
- Worker Compensation claims and process (WSIB or other similar provincial boards) experience considered an asset
- Proficient keyboarding and computer skills, including Word and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgment, ethics and integrity
- Highly driven and self-motivated
- Strong customer service and caring attitude
- Exceptional decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple demands to achieve priorities and required results
- Demonstrated ability to tackle contentious situations and negotiate positive results
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Superior written and oral communication skills including professional business writing in English; French language is an asset
