
Food Service Aide Part-time LTC

- Performs basic food preparation functions including portioning food accurately and in accordance with production orders
- Maintains supplies and equipment including the nourishment cart
- Serves clients in a courteous and engaging manner
- Collects of dishes, loads and operates dish machine
- Cleans and sanitize kitchen and dining area
- Adheres to food handling methods according to established standards of sanitation, infection control and safety in accordance with Ministry of Health Long Term Care Standards, The Occupational Health and Safety Act and departmental policies and Kosher Laws,
- Serves food to residents according to therapeutic diets and preferences
- May need to lift and carry heavy objects, and to withstand long periods of walking, standing and frequent bending and twisting
- May need to steer and manipulate large and small food wagons through congested areas
- Participates in training that supports the resident experience (e.g. Gentle Persuasive Approach)
- Other duties assigned by management
- High school completion or equivalent required
- Current Food Handlers Certification in accordance with Public Health required
- Previous experience in an institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality food service experience; a combination of education (Food Service Worker Certificate program from an accredited College) and experience is preferred
- Previous experience working with the elderly is an asset
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
