  • To ensure parts and components are visually acceptable and dimensions meet requirements outlined in process sheets or diagrams;
  • Mount and dress the required grinding wheel for the manual grinder(s)
  • Complete in-process and final process quality checks, as required, using micrometers, gauges, etc
  • Use various hand tools as required.
  • Set appropriate magnetic check or related job to hold components securely for grinding operation
  • Check provided drawings to verify machining dimensions
  • Maintaining clean work station and general shop housekeeping
  • Interprets sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances for their specific operation, sequence of operation, and setup requirements.
  • Operate an overhead crane to lift and set pieces that they feel are heavy.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and grinding wheels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • 6 months+ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge in the areas of interpreting detailed and complex drawings, specifications and tolerances
  • Knowledge of machine shop setting preferred
  • Strong ability to effectively operate and maintain machining equipment ensuring that high standards of quality are achieved in an effective and cost efficient manner.
