As our growth creates new career opportunities, likely there is the right one for you!MissionTerus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is hiring a seasonal Roller Operator for our operations.This is a unionized position based in Prince Rupert, BC.Main Responsibilities
  • Operate steel-wheeled, rubber-tired, vibrator, segmented or other type of roller to compact earth, subgrade, sub-base and asphalt surfaces.
  • Distribute, break down, compress and give a finished surface to cooling asphalt.
  • Drive machine in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling subgrade and asphalt to desired compaction and smoothness.
  • Determine speed and direction of machine based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures.
  • Push hand roller and pound surfaces, using hand tamp, or guide portable power roller over areas not accessible to road roller.
Knowledge/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Driver’s License (Class 5)
  • Experience in the industry an asset
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Must be physically able to work general labour
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry 50 LBS as needed
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required
Compensation DataThe anticipated wage for this position is $44.35/hour.
