- Financial Reporting
- Preparing and delivering month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end statutory and contractual financial reports.
- Preparing and issuing quarterly and annual financial statements to clients and shareholders.
- Monitoring, interpreting, and applying evolving financial reporting standards to support CNL’s growing operations.
- General Ledger & Project Accounting Close
- Preparing, supporting, and releasing General Ledger (GL) and Project Accounting (PA) journal entries during the month‑end close cycle.
- Reviewing, documenting, and justifying non‑routine and complex financial transactions.
- Coordinating monthly with shareholders to ensure alignment and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
- Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Preparing supporting documentation for corporate tax, withholding tax, and other required tax remittances.
- Leading and supporting tax compliance activities, including sales tax assessments across multiple jurisdictions.
- Supporting or contributing to Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit applications, where applicable.
- Audit, Controls & Governance
- Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits by gathering, reviewing, and submitting required documentation.
- Supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of internal controls to ensure compliance.
- Updating, maintaining, and improving financial policies and procedures as required.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Post-secondary education in an accounting or business-related field, holds a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA).
- Experience
- 4–7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or auditing roles.
- Strong background in public accounting, preferably with Big Four or other major firm experience conducting audits for medium to large organizations.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Proven experience supporting external audits, including the preparation of audit working papers and the effective resolution of audit inquiries.
- Experience contributing to the development, maintenance, and implementation of corporate accounting policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing alignment with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Exposure to corporate tax filings, tax provisions, or tax-related analysis is considered an asset.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or comparable financial systems.
- Experience with a strong focus on internal controls, financial accuracy, and compliance with professional accounting standards.
- Experience preparing and delivering financial information, analysis, and briefings to senior leadership, including executive management and the Board.
- Experience working as an auditor in a public accounting firm or as an accounting or financial reporting analyst within a medium to large organization.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and standards, including IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), PSAS (Public Sector Accounting Standards), internal controls, financial analysis and trending, financial audits, cash flow forecasting, profit and loss statements, financial modelling, budgeting, and expense management.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex financial information to all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven capability to lead and influence stakeholders by referencing financial data, reports, and organizational objectives to support sound decision-making.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and governance requirements, ensuring decisions and recommendations comply with internal policies and external regulations.
- Proficiency with financial and reporting systems and tools, including Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), advanced Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Cognos.
- Reliability Status which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
- Ability to work irregular hours that may be associated with cyclical processes (month-, quarter-, year-end).
- Required periodic attendance at the Deep River and Chalk River sites, with minimal attendance at CNL’s other sites.
