Position: Athletics InternReports to: Director of Athletics & Physical Health EducationEmployment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (starting August 2024)Job Summary:To provide support and assistance to the Director of Athletics and PHE in the day to day operations of Mulgrave’s Athletics program. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that all scorekeeping requirements for home games are met, that games run smoothly, and that all gyms are set up and closed down appropriately. Assisting with equipment inventory and maintenance will also make up a key component of this role, as will providing supervision of the gyms, turf field and fitness centre.Position Duties (Including but not limited to):
  • Ensure that all games have scorekeepers and minor officials
  • Ensure that all scorekeepers and minor officials are trained appropriately
  • Ensure that referees are present at all games
  • Help set-up and close down gyms and the turf field for all home games
  • Act as a game director at league games and tournaments as required
  • Organise equipment rooms in all three gyms and the turf field
  • Inventory, order, inflate and label all equipment as required
  • Provide supervision of the fitness centre, gyms and turf field as needed
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of all major Athletics events and tournaments (Athletics Banquet, Terry Fox Run, Battle of the Houses, etc)
  • Assist with the delivery of the basketball and badminton based elective offerings in our LEAP programme (x3/week)
  • Help facilitate monthly gym and turf field inspections
  • Help facilitate Athlete of the Month interviews and photo shoots
  • Act as a second chaperone for away games and tournaments as needed
  • Drive teams to away games and tournaments as needed
  • Provide first aid at Athletic events, tournaments and games as needed.
  • Help coordinate the Mulgrave Titans social media account
  • Take video clips at home games for social media postings
  • Order, pick up and get trophies inscribed
  • Help facilitate the distribution and collection of all uniforms
  • Ensure pinnies are washed and dried on a weekly basis
  • Attend weekly PHE CPT sessions and take minutes as needed
Other Responsibilities:
  • Attend NSSSAA League Organisational meetings (LOM) as needed
  • Help supervise shooting labs and skill development sessions (Mustangs)
  • Attend Fall camps and other school outings as a chaperone when needed
  • Attend relevant staff meetings and professional development sessions as required and when possible.
Candidates will be expected to have:
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Post Secondary education or equivalent
  • Experience coaching or leading group activities for students in grades 6-12
  • Experience supervising teenagers in an educational or recreational setting
  • Experience with scorekeeping in basketball and volleyball
  • NCCP coaching certification or equivalent, ideally in basketball
  • Class IV Drivers License or willingness to obtain
  • OFA 2 Certification or willingness to obtain

The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $ 45,000.00 - $55,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
