Come build a rewarding career at Rogers and be a driving force behind our success story!Rogers Communications is currently looking for a Senior Financial Analyst in the Business Unit Controller Group to support OPEX accounting for the Telecommunications portfolio.What you'll do:
  • Support month-end close by ensuring all journal entries are prepared, reviewed, adequately supported with backup, and posted by close deadline
  • Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations pertaining to operating expenses and develop an in-depth understanding of the related accounting with the ability to effectively document and explain account transactions
  • Conduct detailed analysis as required including balance sheet variance
  • For new initiatives or issues, gather and analyze detailed information, perform in-depth analysis, and proactively recommend solutions or actions for resolution
  • Provide GL support to Finance Operations and other various teams
  • Support projects relating to Purchase Order requisitions, including managing and cleaning up aged accruals
  • Ensure all internal controls and SOX controls are effective and operational
  • Perform all requested audit tasks required for quarter and year-end external audits to enable timely and efficient audit sign-off
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and take initiative to implement solutions independently
What you'll have:
  • Strong technical accounting skills with an accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent accounting experience with 3 to 4 years of experience in a fast-paced challenging accounting environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills due to tight project and month-end timelines
  • A collaborative team player who also thrives when working independently; consistently seeks innovative and efficient ways to improve processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Excellent software skills in Microsoft office. Knowledge of Oracle Financial Systems and Hyperion/Essbase/Smartview is an asset
