- Removing barriers that would impact deliverables from meeting project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find optimal solutions.
- Ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, as well as statutory requirements and best practices in safety and quality.
- Ensuring timely preparation of equipment specifications and engineering service scopes of work.
- Approving equipment and/or services requisitions prepared by the multi-discipline engineering team: EQRs, CMMS Express requisitions, etc.
- Ensuring timely reviews of vendor bid technical packages and vendor document acceptance by engineering.
- Organizing and monitoring design oversight of outside contracted design work.
- Fostering a positive team environment and team building between Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Project Controls, and with internal and external customers.
- Interfacing with project alliance partners to receive design documentation by other partners, raise requisitions, and facilitate technical information exchange to ensure timely manufacturing of equipment aligned with installation dates.
- Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including skills, capabilities, and durations.
- Collaborating with clients and overseeing the requisition and manufacturing of equipment in accordance with the signed contract, approved customer specifications, and technical requirements.
- Ensuring that the final deliverables meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear codes and standards.
- Working with marketing and other corporate groups to maintain and improve client relationships and offerings.
- Identifying and proposing improvements in the areas of the project – both proactively and in response to customer requirements.
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree from an accredited University. Master's degree and above is an asset.
- Registered Professional Engineer in a Province of Canada (member in good standing).
- Minimum 10 years of design experience, equipment selection, and manufacturing technical oversight in a heavy industry project delivery environment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in leading engineering teams.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary work with significant stakeholder interface requirements.
- Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
- Experience managing and/or performing work under nuclear quality management systems such as CSA N286, CSA N299.
- Experience in Nuclear Station Design, CANDU technology and / or engineering qualification would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of nuclear and industry codes and standards (CSA N285, ASME, etc.).
- Willingness to travel to and potentially work at project sites to meet company needs.
