You work well with “teams and machines” and excel in effective and positive communications both written and orally.As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the maintenance and production departments during daily operations, area shutdowns, and turnarounds. You’ll be part of an experienced team, analyzing, trouble shooting and implementing opportunities for improving safety, productivity, product quality, and profitability. You will manage all facets of new construction including major maintenance and capital projects while evaluating equipment problems and failures to determine the root cause. This role has many moving parts, both literally and figuratively. You are comfortable leading projects and people as an expert in your field and will use these skills to navigate while you work with engineers and non-engineers alike.Ideally, you are already equipped with a Mechanical Engineering degree, are either a member of, or eligible to register with EGBC and have or are working towards your P.Eng. Your experience working on power boilers and turbines will really “fine-tune” your resume. Pulp experience is helpful, but not required.What you will do:
- Analysis and implementation of opportunities for improving safety, productivity, quality and profitability.
- Support NDE of equipment.
- Support risk based inspection of fixed assets.
- Evaluate equipment problems and failures to determine "root cause" with the goal of eliminating future failures by implementing long term corrective measures. These measures include equipment modifications and repairs, preventative maintenance measures, training and standards reviews.
- Project and construction management for major maintenance and capital projects.
- Working understanding relevant Codes and Standards for inspection, repair and design of Pressure Assets.
