Existing Vacancy: YesDescription:The Department of English and the University College in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the field of Canadian and Indigenous Literatures and Culture. This will be a joint appointment between the Department of English (51%) and University College (49%). The joint appointment will be at the rank of Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026.Candidates must have earned a PhD in English, with a specialization in Canadian and Indigenous Literatures and Culture or a closely related area, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates with expertise in collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches. Experience with community engaged/based research would be an asset as would experience with supervising research-creation projects. Teaching and research skills will also need to be demonstrated in the context of interviews and during an on-campus scholarly presentation. Candidates will have an established international reputation and the successful candidate will be expected to sustain and lead innovative, independent and/or collaborative research and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, supported and externally funded research program.Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence, which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained and high impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or other significant venues meeting high international standards, a strong record in Indigenous research methodologies and ethical engagement, the submitted research statement, the writing sample, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, a high international profile in the field, as well as strong endorsements from referees of high standing.Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (including the required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, and strong letters of reference.Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
