The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position Summary: Southern Health-Santé Sud and the Surgery Program at Boundary Trails Health Centre is seeking a general Orthopaedic Surgeon to join a busy community practice in Southern Manitoba. A preference will be given to those candidates that have subspecialty training in hip and knee arthroplasty and/or foot and ankle surgery.The successful candidate will be a part of a team of four orthopedic surgeons who share balanced call, equitable operating time, and a team approach to covering hospital obligations. Call responsibilities are one in four. This position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibilities and requires participation in postgraduate teaching and promotion of community surgical medicine.Boundary Trails Health Centre is a community-based hospital located between the cities of Winkler and Morden in beautiful Southern Manitoba. The hospital is a 60-bed facility with in- and out-patient physiotherapy and a busy cast clinic. MRI and CT are located on site. A hospital expansion is also underway that includes an expanded Emergency Department, 24 additional inpatient beds, expanded cast clinic, child and youth rehabilitation services, echocardiography suite, enhanced clinical teaching unit, and community services. The Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation is very active in fundraising for the hospital and recently funded a mini C-arm for the Orthopaedics program.Both Winkler and Morden are growing communities, rich with diversity and local amenities for families and professionals. Both cities offer a variety of restaurants, parks, museums, shops, churches in multiple faiths, and schools in both official languages. Various recreation opportunities are available, including organized sports, hiking, swimming, yoga, arts programs, children’s camps, cycling and mountain biking, dance, and several golf courses in the area. Morden is also home of the annual Corn and Apple Festival and the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre. The communities are about a 1.5 hour drive from Winnipeg and about 30 minutes from the United States border. Remuneration is fee for service as set by the Manitoba Physician Manual.
