- Prepare and execute plans for loading and discharging containerized shipping vessels.
- Utilize Optimization programs and strategies when required
- Monitor vessel operations for efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
- Prepare required documents for loading or discharge of containers.
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate daily labor and equipment requirements to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Identify successes and variances, providing advice on addressing issues.
- Liaise with yard, gate, and rail operations to maximize container yard utilization and efficiency.
- Communicate with vessel planners, yard planners, agents, port captains, ship officers, and crew as needed.
- Prepare vessel performance summaries for customers, billing, and operations departments.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and rectify unsafe conditions.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, HSSE protocols, and security measures.
- Provide training and ensure personnel understand safety, security, and disciplinary policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Promote and demonstrate positive behaviours in harmony with DP World's Our Principles.
- Establish effective leadership and participation in the HSEMS through demonstration and display of safety behaviours.
- Actively communicate the HSEMS requirements with shift managers, foreman, contractors, and workers.
- Participate in the review and development of materials and documentations in the HSEMS.
- Work in accordance with the Security Management System, including the immediate reporting of any suspicious activities to senior management and/or the Security Officer.
- Understand the consequences related to inappropriate conduct or behaviour or disregard for safety and security programs, policies and procedures.
- Ensure workers under your direction are properly trained and educated to perform their duties.
- Ensure that operations comply with both the law and the HSEMS.
- Conduct regular inspections of the workplace and correct unsafe conditions and behaviours.
- Ensure that personnel under your direction have a clear understanding of the discipline policy for dealing with consequences of inappropriate conduct or behaviour.
- Ensure that the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities.
- Understand and adhere to DP World's Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 3 years of experience in logistics or a similar field.
- A degree in business, logistics, or a similar field is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and make accurate decisions.
- Proficient in computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Comprehensive understanding of ship loading operations, vessel construction, cargo stowage, cargo securing, and applicable regulations.
- Flexibility to meet the requirements of a 24/7 operation.
- Fluent in English.
- Previous Canadian work experience or experience with Canadian industries is preferred.
- Knowledge of Navis/N4,XPS and/or Zodiac TOS is preferred
