Job Description:Our Telecommunications group is currently looking to add a Directional Driller to our growing team, based in MB.Reporting to the Crew Foreman, we are seeking an experienced Driller with experience operating Telecommunications Construction equipment. This position requires the operator to know how to maintain and take care of the machinery that is being operated and to create a safe working area around their equipment.Please Note: this position works 10 hour days in different type of work shifts. Candidates must be able to work in all climactic conditions, travel outside of their home area and be willing to access confined spaces and plant site conditions.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment in a safe, efficient and appropriate manor
  • Load and unload directional bore equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
  • Place telecom structures and pedestals
  • Place underground and overhead fiber and copper cables
  • Couple conduit and pull different types of cables
  • Participate in Tailgate/Tailboard meetings
  • Complete drivers logbook (conduct pre, en-route and post trip inspections)
  • Maintains and records accurate daily drilling activities
  • Read and interpret project plans, diagrams and Locates
  • Assist in labor activities when required
  • Operation of power and motorized tools and equipment
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience in operating construction equipment
  • Must have experience pulling trailers and operating a bucket and digger truck
  • Must have a valid class 3A driver's license and an acceptable drivers abstract
  • Understand utility locates and the ground conditions that are being worked
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work outside for extended periods of time
  • Must be flexible to working varying hours
  • Strong team member with a positive attitude
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Certified in WHMIS, CSTS, Frist Aid, Confined space, fall arrest
  • Be willing to advance drivers license to be able to transport equipment
