Job Description:The Sheet Metal Technician - Assembly is responsible for the buildup of components through combinations of mechanical, chemical or other means into completed assemblies meeting dimensional, physical, electrical and optical requirements. They are highly skilled and multi-faceted with critical thinking skills and who can operate with minimal supervision.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESManufacturing Detailed PartsThis position will be required to perform sheet metal assembly operations that include a variety of complex parts, details, and assembliesInterpret drawings of completed parts and assemblies to develop tooling, assembly requirements and sequences to achieve the final product.Deburring and preparing raw materials for processing prior to formingUse of chemical compounds as specified in drawings, production orders or other documents to bond, insulate, protect and coat components / assembliesLayout, fabricate, assemble, install and rework a wide variety of semi-complicated parts and assemblies for experimental, production, and prototype assembliesConstruct simple checking and holding fixtures and make simple templates and form blocksAssemble semi-complicated assemblies, perform riveting and close tolerance drilling and reamingOperate and use hand tools as requiredMaintaining Records/Reports & Staying on ScheduleEnsure problems or required changes with components/assemblies are brought to the attention of the department supervisorEDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation:Completion of High School or equivalentAircraft Structures course would be an assetExperience:3 years’ experience working in the assembly of metal components in an aerospace settingExperience using tools such as a bandsaw, sheet metal brake (manual + NC), punches, shear, sander, grinderKnowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:Installing and removing rivetsExtensive knowledge of fasteners and hardware; their selection, requirements, properties and useExcellent time management skills meet approaching deadlinesMultitasking’s skills and able to prioritizeIndependent and the ability to work under broad supervisionCustomer orientedFlexible and able to adapt to a fast paced environmentExemplary problem-solving skillsHighly motivated self-starterPhysical Requirements:All job responsibilities are performed indoors. Frequent standing, walking and sitting. Constant gripping & pinching, finger dexterity & precision tasks.
