Wildstone is a General Contractor currently recruiting for a 2nd – 4th Year Refrigeration Apprentice. We’re looking for a motivated and highly-skilled Refrigeration Apprentice to join our team and grow with us!You’ll travel for work to locations throughout BC, the Yukon and occasionally the Northwest Territories. Our crews typically work 21/7 rotations, travel in and out of various locations, work 10-hour shifts on average, and stay in well-maintained crew houses.A little about Wildstone. We’re family-owned and operated, we take on projects in some of the most remote, challenging and exciting locations in western and northern Canada, and our goal is to always make a positive impact through community involvement where we work.In this role, you’ll work independently, collaborate with skilled tradespeople, and support our Journeyperson in keeping HVAC systems operating at peak performance as you learn the trade. Your responsibilities include work on new construction projects, and modernization and upgrading projects – you may also assist in emergency service calls.What you will experience day to day:
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical systems, basic controls, and unit control panels
  • Learn to perform inspections using multimeters, pressure gauges, electronic diagnostic equipment, etc.
  • Participate in assembling and installing refrigeration or A/C components such as motors, controls gauges, valves, circulating pumps, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators, and compressors.
  • Develop skills to install, troubleshoot, and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems.
  • Assist in recharging systems with refrigerant. Checking and testing regulators and calibrating the system.
  • Help repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, or heat pump systems.
  • Support installation of piping using both press and brazing methods.
  • Contribute to starting up and shutting down major building equipment seasonally.

  • 2nd to 4th year Refrigeration Apprentice with previous HVAC experience on commercial, industrial, or institutional work sites.
  • A basic understanding of servicing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and installing HVAC.
  • Able to fulfill the physical requirements of the role.
  • You have your own tools, and you keep them in great condition.
  • You’re dependable and a self-starter – you show up to work on time and get the job done.
  • Safety is not an afterthought – you have a history of working safely and making sure equipment is in the best working order possible.
