Division: Global News, WinnipegWork Status: Full-TimeLocation: Winnipeg, MB (On-site)About the Role:Global News has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Digital Broadcast Journalist / Videographer based out of Winnipeg.Reporting to the Manager, News and Content and working closely with the Executive Producer and Radio News Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for daily gathering and reporting of news on our television, radio, and digital platforms.This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement.You will contribute by:
  • Daily multiplatform reporting of news, sports, and community events.
  • Pitching, writing, and producing content with multiple deadlines for television and radio newscasts, OTT (news streaming service), and online.
  • Telling strong, people-centered stories tailored to each platform with strong video and audio.
  • Regularly communicating story ideas and information with colleagues on all platforms.
  • Developing and maintaining news contacts for interviews and information.
  • Shooting and Editing ENG video for broadcast and online.
  • Operating a Dejero and other Cell or IP based technologies.
  • Understanding and adhering to Global News’ Journalistic Principles and Practices.
  • Representing our brands at public functions.
  • Being available to work weekdays, evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Skills and experience you bring:
  • Post-secondary education and/or experience in Journalism/Broadcasting or equivalent.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to collaborate in a multiplatform newsroom.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet strict and often short daily deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and storytelling skills, with an understanding of how to write for different platforms.
  • Ability to go live from the field with strong presentation skills and clarity.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
  • Passion for broadcast and online journalism and Canadian affairs and you wake up in the middle of the night with good ideas.
  • Motivated, self-starter, independent, results-oriented, and professional.
