Closing Date: April 24, 2026Position SummaryThe Occupational Therapist (OT) is an integral member of the Occupational Therapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through assessment, treatment, evaluation and consultation, the OT prevents, alleviates or minimizes dysfunction, enabling clients to achieve their maximum level of functional independence and facilitating their integration into the home, community and workplace.Duties
- Participate as a member of the interprofessional team with the purpose of assessing client needs;
- Provide assessment, program planning, treatment intervention and evaluation in the occupational performance areas of self care, productivity and leisure including cognition and community living skills
- Collaborate with other care providers in providing patient centred care
- Delegate responsibilities to the occupational therapy assistant; prescribe of aids and assistive devices
- Educate student Occupational Therapists
- Participate in program planning and development in professional, program and hospital initiatives supporting quality management and research
- Demonstrate understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
- MoCA Certification an asset
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada
- Membership with Professional Association preferred
- Experience in Neuro Rehabilitation preferred
- Demonstrated ability to use theoretical and evidence-based concepts, and research findings in practice
- Strong clinical skills related to patient goal setting and creative treatment interventions
- Demonstrated ability to identify and meet own learning needs in pursuit of ongoing professional development
- Demonstrated leadership in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
