- Site Plan Reviews: Reviewing and identifying design improvements for land development site plans with a focus on road configuration, site circulation, and road user safety, via drawing mark-ups in PDF or AutoCAD environments.
- Vehicle Maneuvering Analysis: Assessing vehicle maneuvering and site circulation using AutoTURN.
- Design Development: Developing functional designs, preliminary designs and pavement and signage plans for private development applications and roadways utilizing AutoCAD software.
- Road Condition Reviews: Reviewing existing road conditions and recommending implementable enhancements to meet client and municipal design goals.
- Field Observations: Conducting field observations to inform the preparation of traffic operations and parking studies related to land development.
- Traffic Data Analysis: Compiling and interpreting traffic data such as turning movement counts (TMC), average daily traffic (ADT), and operating speeds.
- Data Visualization: Analyzing, interpreting, synthesizing, and visualizing data.
- Traffic Capacity Analysis: Utilizing Synchro and ARCADY roundabout software to study existing traffic operations, forecast future operations, and facilitate conceptual designs for new intersections.
- Technical Reporting: Writing reports and proposals, including traffic impact studies, traffic calming studies, parking studies, road design documentation, and applying road design standards.
- Design Communication: Communicating and guiding the implementation of traffic-related design improvements/recommendations to both internal teams and external client teams.
- Delivering high-quality results on all technical deliverables.
- Using professional judgment to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Contributing to client and project success by focusing on improving quality of life and prioritizing sustainability.
- Applying technical analysis, report writing, and other skills to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.
- Coordinating regularly with project managers and team members to align project goals, track progress, and deliverables.
- Attending internal and external multidisciplinary project team meetings, site visits, and other engagements as required.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in transportation engineering, road design, or traffic operations.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Professional Engineer designation
- P. Eng. Designation.
- Candidates possessing Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designations with direct and relevant road safety experience may be considered.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, AutoTURN, Synchro.
- Familiarity with the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Geometric Design Guide, Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) Books.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with a commitment to excellence and high-quality work.
- Proven technical writing skills in English with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to be flexible and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team, while maintaining quality work within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to regularly attend client and public meetings in person in the Greater Toronto Area.
