At Traugott, strong financial stewardship and cross-functional partnership are essential to our success, and our people are recognized as critical contributors to the quality, integrity, and sustainability of our work.The OpportunityWe are hiring an Assistant Financial Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This is a hands-on leadership role that works closely with project teams and senior leadership to ensure timely, accurate financial information and strong financial governance.Compensation$85,000 - $95,000 base salary (CAD), plus benefits and a performance-based bonus opportunity.
- Lead monthly close, financial statements (ASPE), and variance analysis (WIP/project reporting where applicable)
- Oversee AP/AR, payroll coordination, bank reconciliations, and general ledger integrity
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial procedures
- Support annual audit/review engagement and liaison with external accountants
- Lead the annual budget preparation and forecasting
- Ensure tax filings and remittances are completed accurately and on time (HST, PST, Corporate Income Tax, etc.)
- Coach and develop the accounting team; set clear expectations and accountability
- Partner with operations/project leadership on forecasting, cost controls, and financial discipline
- Support systems improvement (ERP/accounting tools, reporting automation, process standardization)
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- 5+ years progressive accounting/finance experience, including people leadership
- Proficient in financial reporting and month-end close capability
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in construction/real estate/project-based environments is a strong asset (WIP is a plus)
- High integrity, sound judgment, and ability to communicate clearly with non-finance leaders
- Advanced Excel; experience with accounting/ERP systems including Sage 300 CRE and Procore
