- Supervise helicopter and service vehicle maintenance, including scheduled and unscheduled work
- Plan, organize, and assign maintenance and overhaul activities to internal teams and external vendors
- Managing day-to-day maintenance, including scheduling, defect rectification, and technical dispatch
- Review maintenance records, pilot reports, inspections, flight logs, airframe time records, component history sheets, technical records, journey logs, and work order packages
- Ensure compliance with Transport Canada, Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), OEM requirements, the Maintenance Control Manual (MCM), and the Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM)
- Perform the duties of the Director of Maintenance for the Approved Maintenance Organization and the Person Responsible for Maintenance for the Air Operator
- Ensure all maintenance is performed in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations and manufacturer requirements
- Ensure that company-operated aircraft are maintained in accordance with their Transport Canada Maintenance Schedule Approval (MSA)
- Ensure maintenance releases are issued by appropriately licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) in accordance with CAR 571
- Ensure proper control and implementation of manufacturers maintenance procedures, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins, Service Letters, approved modifications, and repairs
- Issue or withhold airworthiness approvals within delegated authority
- Oversee helicopter overhauls, modifications, and installation of specialized equipment
- Manage maintenance scheduling, tool control, inventory control, and assist with operational improvements
- Maintain and update the Maintenance Control Manual and the Maintenance Policy Manual as required
- Maintain administrative control over the maintenance operation, including authorizing production orders, monitoring costs, reviewing labor distribution, closing completed work orders, and reviewing invoices
- Support budgeting and planning for fleet operations and participate in review of monthly maintenance cost reports and profit and loss statements
- Coordinate training and type-specific maintenance qualifications for maintenance personnel
- Supervise and support Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and apprentices
- Liaise with flight operations to optimize aircraft availability and maintenance scheduling
- Act as the primary liaison with Transport Canada regarding maintenance matters
- Managing the Quality Assurance (QA) program in accordance with the company MPM, MCM, and Quality Assurance Manual
- Ensure maintenance activities support the company Safety Management System (SMS)
- Submit Service Difficulty Reports to Transport Canada when warranted
- Ensure all maintenance personnel follow Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements and company safety procedures
- Coordinate maintenance support for satellite and remote operations
- Oversee contractor performance and conduct quality and compliance inspections, including visits to contracted helicopter operators and overhaul centres
- Participate as a member of the departmental safety committee
- Perform other duties as required
- Grade XII with post-secondary education in aviation technology or a related field
- Requires a knowledge of aviation technology, mathematics, and physics to carry out helicopter maintenance activities
- Requires a knowledge of business administration to prepare and manage budgets, administer work orders, and oversee the recording and analysis of service and cost data
- Requires a knowledge of computer technology to apply computer-based systems for maintenance tracking, reporting, and preparation of technical directives
- Requires a knowledge of English to facilitate effective oral and written communication with staff, clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities
- Minimum of 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including supervisory or leadership roles
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in helicopter maintenance
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs)
- Strong knowledge of maintenance control systems
- Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance and Safety Management Systems
- Proven supervisory or maintenance leadership experience
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and administrative processes
- Exposure to machine shop or fabrication environments is an asset
