This role is responsible for managing and enhancing a complex on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure environment. The position focuses on maintaining system reliability, improving security posture, and supporting ongoing modernization initiatives including cloud transition and infrastructure upgrades. The successful candidate will work extensively with Linux systems, networking, and virtualization technologies in a hands-on capacity.Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux-based infrastructure, including servers, networking, and security systems
- Manage and optimize network environments including VLANs, firewalls, NAT, and segmentation
- Support virtualization platforms and associated infrastructure components
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, patching, and system migrations (e.g., CentOS to Ubuntu)
- Implement and manage secure remote access solutions, including VPN technologies
- Configure and maintain storage systems and clustered environments
- Perform troubleshooting and resolution of complex infrastructure and networking issues
- Support automation initiatives using tools such as Ansible
- Participate in on-call support and respond to critical system outages as required
- Assist with hardware-related tasks including server maintenance and rack installations
- 5+ years of experience administering Linux systems, networking, and cybersecurity environments
- 5+ years of experience with network management (VLANs, firewalls, NAT, segmentation, proxies, packet analysis)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, VMware)
- Experience with enterprise networking hardware (e.g., Cisco, HP/Aruba switches)
- Hands-on experience with Linux-based infrastructure and networking stacks
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible
- Experience with oVirt or Linux-based firewall tools (e.g., Shorewall)
- Experience with storage technologies (e.g., GlusterFS, ZFS, XFS)
- Experience implementing VPN solutions (e.g., WireGuard, OpenVPN)
- Experience supporting infrastructure modernization or cloud transition initiatives
This is a full-time permanent position based in Burnaby, BC, operating in a hybrid model with 3-4 days onsite per week (most commonly 3 days). Candidates must be able to travel onsite as required and participate in an on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure.
