You’ll be hands on with all aspects of the system’s testing process and provide suggestions that will ensure client needs are met with the highest quality. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll be a team lead on CIBC’s Technology team, assigning and overseeing the execution of test cases. You will have proficiency in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts using automation tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Parasoft or similar tools. Your responsibilities will include end to end test support and coordination, governance, and continuous improvement. You’ll create test plans, test strategies that include automation strategies, and provide cost estimates that will help create the Bank of the future. This role ensures that all testing processes are executed efficiently, meet quality standards, and align with project timelines. The Senior Quality Engineer works closely with project managers, developers, quality engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.   • Testing and Automation expertise – Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies. Lead the investigation and translation of business and technical requirements into test cases. Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, schedules, and resource allocations for testing activities. Develop and maintain automated test cases, test suites using test automation tools. Execute test cases (manual/automated), document test results, raise defects whenever necessary. Track, report, and manage defects throughout the testing lifecycle, ensuring issues are resolved promptly. Prepare and present regular status reports, test metrics, and risk assessments to project leadership. Ensure all testing activities comply with organizational policies/frameworks, industry standards, and regulatory requirements Experience in the execution and creation of automation strategies, tools and frameworks.
  • Leadership skills – Coach and provide mentorship to testing team members in various areas including business domain, functional testing, automation and non-functional testing while ensuring the test teams are compliant with CIBC’s test methodologies and industry best practices. Proactively identify any potential issues throughout all test phases and suggest possible improvements or enhancements. Identify opportunities to enhance testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Project coordination – Coordinate the efforts of testing teams, including internal staff and external vendors, to ensure timely completion of test phases. Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals.
  • Team Collaboration – Provide advice to your team, including ongoing feedback, support, and mentorship. Proactively identify any potential issues throughout all test phases, and suggest possible improvements or enhancements.
Who You Are
  • You can demonstrate proven 5+ years of experience in project delivery within Quality Engineering. Ability to build out automated testing scripts and strategies and integrate it with DevOps tools. Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM) is required. Hands on experience with test automation tools such as Selenium/Robot framework, Parasoft SOAtest, Postman, RestAssured. Project delivery experience ranging from 500k to multi-million-dollar projects. Lead onshore – offshore team. Good working knowledge of QE processes.
