In this position, you will contribute to the operation of the Hospital through the day to day maintenance of essential support services (under the supervision of assigned Staff Pharmacist and overall supervision by the Manager of Operations). You're also a great relationship builder, communicate effectively with peers across the entire organization and effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. You are highly organized, have great interpersonal skills and adapt well in a dynamic environment. You are able to work independently as well as a part of an inter-professional team. This position supports the Hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians,
volunteers , learners, patients and families.On a practical level, you will
- Be responsible for medication dispensing, patient-specific and ward stock replenishment
- Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding
- Handling and accountability for controlled substances
- Inventory management
- Opportunity to learn skills required to obtain best possible medication history (BPMH) to facilitate
- Graduate of a recognized Pharmacy Technician program at the Community College level
- Part A Registered Pharmacy Technician (R.Ph.T) designation from the Ontario College of Pharmacists or working towards the RPhT designation with OCP
- Experience in Hospital Pharmacy strongly preferred
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and experience with IV admixtures preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge of current concepts of hospital pharmacy practice
- Demonstrate knowledge in Pharmaceutical Math
- Accurate and efficient typing skills
- Knowledge in the use of Pharmacy Computer System and ability to support basic trouble-shooting an asset
- Good knowledge of the operation and standards of practice for Pharmacy Technicians in hospital setting
- Knowledge in the operation of equipment such as unit-dose prepackaging machines, and automated dispensing units, preferred
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable and well organized
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset
