  • Bachelor of Social Work; and,
  • Social work experience and/or practicum in providing services to families, children and individuals.
  • Experience working in remote communities and indigenous cultural competency would be an asset to this role
  • Prior child welfare/intervention experience within the last three years may be considered an asset as are experience in working with Signs of Safety and working with an electronic case management system, and living and working in remote communities
  • NOTE: If your Bachelor of Social Work Degree is from outside of Canada, you need to confirm equivalency through any members of the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada.
It may be helpful for you to reviewDesired knowledge, skills and suitabilityn, the following:
  • Demonstrated interest in rural Yukon social work;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with an emphasis on Yukon First Nation's culture;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in social work principles and practices in child welfare and case management;
  • Demonstrates interest in child and family services, including child protection;
  • Sound ethical decision making and judgement skills that demonstrate the capacity to complete family, children and individual assessments at a professional level;
  • Excellent decision-making skills and practice guided by the Canadian Association of Social Work Code of Ethics;
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and professional partnerships that demonstrates a professional level of written and oral communication;
  • Ability to take a broad-based, strategic approach to community development in response to mandated client service;
  • Ability to prepare affidavits or court documents and intervention services, including investigations and core protection services; and,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Conditions of employment
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector,
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license or equivalent,
  • Verification of Bachelor of Social Work or Masters of Social Work; and,
  • Demonstrate the potential to be delegated within 12-months of hire under the Child and Family Services Act.
