As a Business Development Manager, you will provide key support to facilitate growth and execute strategic plans consistent with our future focused E-Mobility initiative. Your goal will be identifying, assessing, and contracting Electric Vehicle Charging opportunities within the Irving Oil business and across our network. Your success will to be dependent on your ability to meet the evolving needs of our customers.What We Offer:

Your Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in the comprehensive process of identifying and assessing EV charging opportunities and to expand our network most effectively in this space.
  • Continuing to evolve our business, specifically enhancing our competitive position in all our markets, and meeting the changing needs of our customers today and in the future.
  • Assess DCFC, and AC charging opportunities at retail, fleet, private terminals, municipal locations, and other locations in our selected regions and in line with our overall strategy.
  • Work closely with the retail network development team on placement of charging infrastructure at existing and future retail sites within our network.
  • Lead negotiation with counterparties for placement of EV infrastructure (Host locations).
  • Lead negotiation with funding entities, working closely with internal legal teams, to secure available funding for the continued development of charging infrastructure.
  • Research and actively understand new and emerging opportunities within the electric vehicle space as well as monitor and report on competitive activities to help strategically position our company for long-term success.
  • Support the development of business cases, financial modeling, strategic alignment, and execution of various opportunities.
  • Be an internal and external advocate for the development of EV charging infrastructure.
  • Assist in the identification of and application for various funding opportunities related to EV charging.
  • Support analyses (including that of industry innovation, new and emerging markets, competitive analysis, and government policy) to provide valuable benchmarking and timely insights to internal stakeholders to drive the business planning process, development, and implementation of long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Be a thinking partner and develop relationships with business leaders by providing support on strategic and base business initiatives.
  • Understand emerging opportunities, trends, and threats that could impact the organization in both the near and long term. Bring ideas to the group as the team continues to refine the strategy going forward.

  • An ability to problem-solve and quickly pivot on a regular basis.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; must be able to quickly pivot when necessary.
Your Experience:
  • Post-secondary or bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or other relevant degree
  • 5+ years of experience in any of the following: Project Management, entrepreneurship, design, innovation advisory or engagement delivery
