- Timely delivery of Building Code Compliant and cost-effective electrical Production Drawings through acute collaboration with Manufacturing, Estimating Design, Compliance and Standards, and Supply Chain.
- Coordinates electrical designs with other disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, Architectural, and structural) to ensure seamless integration to Approved for Construction drawing status.
- Assist the electrical estimator in preliminary design and sales drawing preparation as required.
- Prepares electrical Design drawings using the current Canadian Electrical Code, standards, and installation methods.
- Prepares work scope and electrical equipment specifications.
- Prepares design and equipment layout considering access, maintenance, and installation.
- Prepares accurate, detailed material take-offs which also identifies long-lead items.
- Conduct plant visits for project inspections and other duties as assigned.
- Calculates Electrical loads, lighting levels, service, and distribution requirements.
- Designs, sources, and evaluates fire alarm systems.
- Prepare electrical design drawings based on the design package containing the bid specifications and sales drawings.
- References the product cost estimate during the drawing process and raises any significant anomalies with the appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Maintains awareness of current building codes through internal and external technical resources.
- Views products in the manufacturing frequently with internal stakeholders to confirm the accuracy of drawings, Material take-off selections/quantities, and opportunities for improvement.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in a similar industry with Prior electrical (power, lighting, fire alarm) design experience
- Proficient with CAD Systems; Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Revit)
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering or Completion of the Electrical Engineering Technology program
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, National Fire Alarm Code, and National & Provincial Building Codes
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for Windows
- Knowledge of different discipline drawings and modular building construction would be an asset.
- Able to create and maintain REVIT families.
