Duration: Full-time, PermanentPosition SummaryThe Manager, Human Resources provides strategic leadership and direction for the Human Resources function. This role drives organisational development and restructuring initiatives through a full range of specialized HR services, ensuring all practices align with corporate policies, procedures, and industry best practices. As a key member of the Site Management Team, the Manager partners in achieving business objectives and advancing strategic priorities while cultivating a high-performing, engaged workforce.Position ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Identify strategies to enhance HR performance and organizational culture, aligning with the Medicine Hat business plan and Global HR strategies.
  • Actively participate in the Site Management Team and collaborate with other site managers to address current and future HR needs.
  • Oversee the creation, communication, and consistent implementation of HR policies and programs across the organization, providing guidance to managers and employees.
  • Set financial objectives, manage the HR department’s budget, and develop site employee cost budgets while controlling expenses.
  • Lead talent management processes, including career transitions, job evaluation, total compensation, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Develop and implement best practices for recruitment, retention, and employee competency development, including technical and behavioral training.
  • Establish key performance indicators, conduct assessments, and provide statistical reporting to measure HR effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and communicate updates on legislative changes in HR practices.
  • Actively participate in Global HR operations and local committees, networking with other Methanex sites for mutual benefit.

Position QualificationsTechnical Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources or Business Management.
  • Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive and relevant experience in a human resources generalist role.
  • At least 2 years of experience at the mid- to senior-management level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of leading practices in human resources.
  • Solid understanding of Alberta employment standards and related legislation.
  • Familiarity with Alberta Human Rights legislation.
