Our growing Mississauga client is looking for a Shop/ Fleet Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4-5 years related experience within a heavy machinery environment. You must also have a valid G license and clean drivers abstract. The following are the responsibilities:As Shop Manager you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operations of our shop, storage yard, fleet and other property and equipment. The primary responsibility of the Shop Manager is to provide operational and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the company's equipment and vehicles. The Shop Manager is accountable to ensure all fleet processes are completed in a timely manner with records maintained accordingly. The successful candidate must hold a valid driver's license, which is a requirement for this position. Class G driver's license is preferred; higher classification is an asset but not required.
Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain a detailed inventory of all spare parts and materials on hand at the shop and offsite storage yard.
  • Source and secure parts, materials & equipment required to ensure continuous operations based on consultation with construction team.
  • Create and maintain inventory onsite for all consumables required for normal operations; coordinated with site leads to ensure weekly restocking.
  • In consultation with the team, create detailed mobilization plan for each piece of equipment, including detailed transportation plan, to ensure consistent and efficient movement of equipment to and from all job sites.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the fleet, including dispatching drivers and scheduling routes.
  • Maintain company service database - to allow for ongoing monitoring and scheduling of preventive maintenance of all Company vehicles and equipment.
  • Align with service technician to maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the shop - both interior and exterior, storage yards, fleet and other equipment.
  • Monitor fuel usage and implement cost-saving measures. Manage Company fuel cards and reconcile corporate fuel account monthly.
  • Gather, analyze, and report on fleet performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of fleet management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned that may change from time to time. • This position reports to the VP of Construction.
Education/Experience Requirements Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with heavy equipment.
  • Valid class G Driver's License, or greater
Qualifications: • Certification in fleet management and logistics, or comparable experience
  • Experience with fleet management software such as Samsara/Fleetio
  • Experience in dispatching drivers and managing schedules.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fleet operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to gather, analyze, and report information
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and other departments
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance terminology and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions • Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and loud noises;Hours- Mon-Friday 8am-4:30pm
Salary - 80K-85K plus benefits
