These values define us and guide all the decisions we make.In this role you will be a valued member of the Dawson Group, working in a temporary, full-time position of Controller, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role, you will provide oversight on all financial aspects of the business and drive the company’s financial strategy and planning. Your base location will ideally be Kamloops, B.C. The Dawson Group embraces distributed work, meaning the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home and/or at our office.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Hands on financial partner to Divisional Operational leads
  • Management of the processes for financial forecasting, budgeting, and the preparation of all financial reporting
  • Oversight of project accounting to ensure completeness and accuracy of job costing for the Civil Construction and Road Maintenance Divisions
  • Management and forecasting of divisional cashflow
  • Translate financial statements, production reports, and other key financial metrics into a language that is understandable and usable by all team members, providing ongoing financial guidance, analysis, and forecasting to others
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports on financial performance on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of financial operational excellence by the finance team
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance and or Business Administration
  • 7 years of recent related experience with 5 years of experience in a management position
  • CPA designation required
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Must possess an analytical mind with strategic and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong mentoring, process improvement and change management skills
  • Strong accounting system experience with Sage &/or Timberline background an asset
