Your Opportunity:Working in collaboration with the Unit Manager(s), the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) uses principles of adult learning and assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the educational and development needs of nursing staff for the inpatient and outpatient Older Adult Psychiatry programs at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. The successful candidate will be an expert practitioner and key educator. The CNE will take leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. Other duties include promoting clinical competence of staff through changes in policy, procedures, protocols, technology and just-in-time education. In this role, you will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will focus on the needs of the nursing teams in the specific departments, while keeping the overall needs of the department, hospital and the zone in view. You will be responsible for creating and revising documents, networking with colleagues both within and outside the Edmonton area. In addition, the CNE will work effectively in committees with the program, hospital and region. The CNE will collaborate with other educators on site, and within Recovery Alberta in the Edmonton Zone, in the provision of education that ensures safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1-2 years' experience as a Certified Nurse Educator in complex care setting. Minimum 2 years' clinical experience in Addictions and Mental Health Programs. Minimum 2 years' clinical experience on a Medical or Rehabilitation Inpatient Program. In-depth knowledge of the DSM-5R, psychotropic medications, and mental health certificates. Strong computer skills (i.e. data entry, MS Office, NetCare) are necessary, and candidate must be extremely organized. Experience with in-service and program development, implementation and evaluation is required. Experience developing education materials for both staff/patients is required. Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Completed Non-violent Crisis Intervention Course and SPRAM Modules. Connect Care.
