- Maintains an excellent knowledge of OTC derivative products
- Reviews trade capture and valuation to ensure all events and risk associated with a transaction are captured and valued in line with agreed upon standards.
- Contributes to developing a robust operating model, built on best practices, for OTC derivatives
- Ensures transactions are properly reflected to allow for integrity of the data captured
- Reviews front office profit and loss calculations as well as position calculations with those output from the general ledger reports
- Provides commentary on drivers of daily profit & loss movements
- Assists to reconcile the monthly P&L to the general ledger for all desks within the group
- Provides information and analysis to other areas of the firm such as Performance Management, Corporate Finance, Investment Risk and Treasury regarding risk/positions, fair value calculations, and profit & loss
- Identifies, implements and maintains internal controls with a view to mitigate operational and financial risk.
- Provides support and building relationships with our business partners
- Participates in projects to continuously improve derivative processing at CPP Investments
- Acts in accordance with CPP Investment' policies and guidelines
- Develops strong relationships with multiple partners across CPP Investments and aligns the objectives of the Derivative Products team with the evolving needs of those stakeholders. This requires strong lateral thinking, coupled with influencing and leadership capabilities
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Engineering or other related discipline
- Advanced Degree or Professional designation such as a CFA or CAIA is considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years direct operational experience in OTC derivative focusing in P&L attribution and Valuation
- Strong technical and analytical skills, including high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications; aptitude in learning new software applications
- Experience with the Bloomberg, Murex, Simcorp applications considered an asset
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think through problems, assess a variety of factors and recommend a solution
