The Opportunity:Senior Compensation AnalystCompany, Department: Emera Inc, Corporate Human ResourcesLocation: Halifax, NSClosing Date: April 30, 2026We are currently looking to hire a Senior Compensation Analyst to join the Total Rewards team, reporting to the Manager, Compensation. The Senior Compensation Analyst will be involved in all aspects of executive and broad-based Compensation management. You will lead end-to-end compensation programs, including annual and mid-year salary administration, short- and long-term incentive plans, and executive compensation support. This role oversees market benchmarking and survey participation to ensure competitive pay practices, delivers executive-ready analytics to support decision-making, and partners with HR on programs across the Canadian affiliates from a total compensation and analytical perspective.The Total Rewards team, part of Emera's Corporate Human Resources team, is responsible for the design, communication, and administration of compensation, benefits, and pensions for Emera's Canadian affiliates. Ensuring accuracy, client focus and continuously looking for efficiencies are key components of this role.Key elements of this role include:
  • Lead the mid-year and annual salary administration processes and reporting across all employee groups, including executives.
  • Coordinate the company’s short-term incentive process and payout across all employee groups. Support the company’s long-term incentive equity plans, including the grant and payout processes, administration of the long-term incentive platform, Shareworks and associated reporting.
  • Manage the participation in annual salary surveys, administer and maintain benchmarking and survey data in Payscale, and conduct market analysis to ensure competitive positioning. Refine and maintain comprehensive compensation frameworks, including salary structures, pay grades, and related guidelines.
  • Complete ad hoc compensation analysis and reporting. Interpret data and prepare executive ready documents to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Provide support and help prepare materials for the Management Resources and Compensation Committee (MRCC) of the Emera Board of Directors.
  • Partner with the HR Business Parters on job evaluation. Organize Job Evaluation Committee meetings, track evaluated jobs and communicate results as required.

  • A bachelor’s degree with a passion for numbers and a keen eye for accuracy; working toward a certificate in Compensation (CCP), Accounting or Human Resources (CPHR) would be considered an asset
  • Minimum five years of experience in an analytical role, with advanced proficiency in MS Excel and strong overall technology skills
  • Ability to analyze complex data and business issues, distilling findings into clear solutions and well‑structured, executive‑ready presentations and materials
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential
  • Exceptional analytical and project management capabilities, with the ability to manage and influence relationships at diverse levels both internally and externally
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities, with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Demonstrated professional judgment, integrity, and discretion when handling highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to work across the organization at all levels and are willing to support team members wherever necessary
