Amrize has an opportunity for apprentice Welders in their 1st or 2nd year. This is a field position based out of our Spy Hill Quarry with travel to other operations in the Calgary area. The apprentice Welder will support fixing and repairing equipment such as; cone crushers, conveyors, loaders, excavators, washing equipment, and cyclones.To be successful in this fast passing production environment, mechanical aptitude is important. The ideal candidate will be a safety-minded individual who can think on their feet and adapt to changing situations.WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Work with the Journeyman to support the operation with the goal of minimal downtime.
- Perform welding repair and maintenance to production-related equipment, machinery, and structures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Responsible for ensuring all work is completed in a safe manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Required Training/Certifications: Registered apprentice - 1st or 2nd year Welder.
Required Work Experience: Experience in an industrial environment is an asset.Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Must be comfortable working in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
- Must be physically fit to perform required duties; successful candidates will have to pass a physical assessment.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends when necessary
- Mechanical aptitude
- Willing to learn and take direction
- Must be able to communicate well with co-workers
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
