With Caring and Vitality as two of our core values at Lambton College, you know you'll be joining a team of passionate and fun colleagues.About the Position:This is a temporary part-time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Fire Science, Health and Community Services working 10-15 hours per week at an hourly rate of $26.46This position assists the CICE student to maximize his/her learning potential. The incumbent advocates, intervenes and acts on behalf of the CICE student with faculty, other College students, and College-wide services. The Learning Specialist is responsible for modification of course outlines, tests, and assignments in collaboration with the faculty.This role is for the Fall 2025 Semester, and hours will be based on student needs. Ideally the successful candidate is able to start as soon as possible.You will need to be available for a flexible schedule as class times vary.Specific Accountabilities:
  • Modifies course materials, tests and assignments in collaboration with faculty
  • Develops and recommends policies and procedures for administration of work unit
  • Provides data to decision makers allowing them to determine best course of action
  • Responds to needs of service users by coordinating all details of learning initiatives
  • Other responsibilities as required
Qualifications:
  • Two year Educational Assistant diploma, Developmental Service Worker diploma, Child and Youth Worker diploma, Social Service Worker Diploma or 2-3 years carpentry/welding experience
  • 1-3 years of experience with persons with developmental disabilities, persons with significant learning challenges and experience in the teaching/tutoring environment
  • Mental health training is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing educational/learning strategies; Microsoft Teams, D2L experience is required
  • Possess advocacy skills and a willingness to participate in marketing events
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, and patience
  • Computer fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently as well as demonstrating a high level of initiative is essential
  • Excellent organizational and creative problem solving skills
  • An effective team player
