- Lead and manage building science and building enclosure projects for new and existing residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
- Perform comprehensive reviews of architectural, structural, and building envelope design drawings and shop drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
- Conduct detailed investigations and condition assessments of building envelope systems, including cladding, roofing, below-grade waterproofing, balconies, and parking structures, to identify performance issues, deficiencies, or damage.
- Plan and oversee site inspections, exploratory openings, and field testing of enclosure assemblies.
- Analyze findings and prepare technical reports, deficiency reviews, and repair/rehabilitation recommendations, and present results to builders, developers, property managers, and owners.
- Provide field review services during rehabilitation and renewal projects, including site meetings, mock-up reviews, deficiency reporting, and site instructions.
- Review shop drawings, specifications, and material submittals for conformance with project intent, codes, and building science principles.
- Support builders and developers by advising on construction methods, addressing deficiencies, and assisting with building performance-related claims.
- Guide and mentor junior staff through report reviews, technical oversight, and professional development.
- Participate in proposal development, including scope definition, resourcing, and fee estimates, and contribute to business development through client relationships and industry engagement.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution, quality assurance, and overall team performance.
- Ensure compliance with the BC Building Code, WorkSafeBC requirements, and industry best practices.
- Perform other duties and contribute to special projects as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in building science, building envelope consulting, or a related field, with demonstrated progression in responsibility.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex construction, rehabilitation, or renovation projects from investigation through implementation.
- Strong technical knowledge of building envelope systems, construction assemblies, energy efficiency, and sustainability principles.
- Solid understanding of building codes, regulations, and standards, including the BC Building Code and applicable municipal bylaws.
- Experience conducting and reviewing building envelope investigations, condition assessments, and performance testing.
- Building science or sustainability credentials (e.g., BSS, LEED AP, WELL AP) are considered assets.
- Strong working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and sequencing for low-rise and high-rise buildings.
- Excellent verbal & written Communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to find positive solutions to complex and sensitive issues;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a complex and growing organization;
- Proficient in MS Office Suite;
- Must have a valid G driver's license/insurance to travel;
- Must be able to legally work in Canada at time of application.
