- Maintain efficient and effective performance of all aspects of the Laundry Aide duties while fostering positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Follow all Shepherd Village policies, procedures, and Workplace Health & Safety Act requirements.
- Handle laundry operations, including transporting, loading/unloading washers and dryers, folding, and organizing linens and personal clothing.
- Identify, separate, and manage stained or damaged linens/clothing for repair, replacement, or special treatment.
- Maintain laundry equipment and supplies by cleaning dryer filters, replacing products, and reporting malfunctions or shortages to the coordinator.
- Respond promptly to resident laundry needs and practice proper hygiene and safety protocols.
- MUST be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
- Professional conduct with a commitment to comply with the Ontario Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and related policies of Shepherd Village to ensure the protection of individuals whose personal health information is in the custody or control of the organization.
- Experienced with various laundry equipment, including sewing, and able to work accurately and efficiently in high-production environments.
- Intermediate knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, and the model of care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills – verbal, written, and non-verbal – including effective use of phones and other communication devices with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking initiative, and efficiently prioritizing tasks.
- Team player attitude and ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Proven track record of excellent attendance and punctuality.
