The incumbent will also promote component reuse, and standardization of API technologies and ensure that the standards and changes to the architecture are documented, aligned with the overall Abstraction strategy, and implemented through best practices.As our API & Data Management Architect, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the new API development and management platform. You will be designing, developing, and implementing APIs and data management solutions. You will work closely with our development and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and maximum efficiency.To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in API and data management technologies and be able to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. You should be an innovative problem solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams. This role will be reporting to the Sr. Manager, Software Architecture - Abstraction.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of an API and data management strategy that meet Bell’s strategic and business requirements
- Define, develop and maintain API architecture governance policies, design patterns, standards, and technical guidelines. Ensure all documentations are up to date and accessible to stakeholders and developers
- Define and implement the full lifecycle management of APIs, including API design, development, testing, deployment, versioning, and retirement. Ensure proper documentation and monitoring of APIs
- Design scalable and high-performance solutions to handle large volumes of API traffic. Optimize system performance and throughput to ensure responsiveness and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with existing API systems and platforms
- Manage data integration and data quality processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in API and data management
- Assist in post-implementation continuous-improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality of API platform and practices
- Responsible for reviewing the API technical architecture from a security, accessibility, data integrity, and availability points of view
- Provide technology evaluation and selection advice on API practices and platforms regarding the use of COTS, custom approaches, open source and cloud appropriateness
- Checking conformance to API and data management standards, resolving design and architectural conflicts by explaining and justifying design and architectural decisions
- Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams of software developers, business analysts and data engineers. Mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to architectural principles and coding standards
- -Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software architecture development, with a focus in API and data management technolo• Knowledgeable in Enterprise Architecture framework. Preferable Certifications in TOGAF, Zachman
- Strong understanding of API design principles, industry standards and best practices
- Proficiency in designing and building API management solutions using technologies such as REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OAuth, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Familiarity with API gateway technologies (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft, Kong) and microservices architecture
- In-depth knowledge of API security best practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and data privacy.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
- Experience with data modeling, database design, and data integration
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments. Familiarity with DevOps practices, Lean, SAFe, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Familiarity with cloud-based technologies and services, such as AWS or Google. Relevant certifications (e.g., Google & AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus
- Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with all levels of the organization
- Telco Experience is considered an asset
