- Complete the development of Baycrest Academy’s Open Science principles
- Finalize the Open Science policy and companion documents
- Develop a three-year Open Science implementation plant that includes stakeholder consultation, milestones, timelines and deliverable
- Develop project charter for the implementation plan that includes identifying risks and issues, budget and change management processes to enable the uptake of Open Science principles and processes across the different Baycrest entities
- Work with KL-CARE staff to oversee the completion of stakeholders’ consultation report
- Organize stakeholders consultation meetings regarding the implementation plan to ensure their perspective are included and addressed in the planning and implementation processes
- Participate as a member of the Open Science Committee and provide meeting organization support and follow-up on action items
- Work in partnership with Research Ethics staff to advise staff and trainees on the ethics of Open Science and to establish, manage and oversee the development of a searchable database tracking research studies and outputs
- Work in partnership with Data Management Plan Working Group and Data Science Committee to address and manage overlap between data management and Open Science to eliminate duplication and to assess the organization and standardization of research data
- Develop, in partnership with Data Management Plan Working Group and Open Science Chair, as well as other administrative, educational and scientific leads, data sharing principles to foster Open Science and processes to establish appropriate Open Science internal controls
- Work with programmer to design scientific databases and repositories and advise on the optimization of data management systems
- Develop, in partnership with scientific, IT and other technical staff, procedures for managing data, from clean-up to formatting to uploading for sharing
- Work in partnership with Research IT to identify and assess data sharing platforms, and provide recommendations and guidance on how to use data sharing platforms
- Track and report on implementation progress, effectiveness and Open Science metrics
- Track and respond to developments within the wider Open Science and research landscape
- Masters or PhD (an asset) in computer science, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, psychology or equivalent
- Project Management Professional (PMP) (asset)
- Experience working in the research community
- Knowledge of Open Science philosophy and its mechanisms
- Understanding of the Open Science policy landscape and implications for open access to scientific publications and research data
- Excellent computer skills and ability to adapt to new technologies
- Excellent verbal, written and listening skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to cope in stressful situations
- Ability to document concisely and to communicate effectively
- Ability to prioritize workload and the flexibility to adjust to changing work plans, schedules and deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure and to thrive in a fast-paced client-focused environment
- Knowledge of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act 1990 requirements and Personal Health Information Protection Act 2004
