- Assess new hire skills, create individualized training plans, deliver training through modules, self-study, peer observation, and documentation review, and track progress through report cards, testing, and benchmarking.
- Meet regularly with trainees and managers to review progress, adjust goals, and support transition plans after training completion.
- For existing staff, use quality data to identify training needs, design refresher or targeted training, track results, and provide ongoing support through testing and review.
- Audit underwriting files to ensure alignment with risk analysis, pricing standards, communication requirements, and overall underwriting practices.
- Document findings for team metrics, share results with managers promptly, and provide constructive feedback directly to underwriters.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual audit reports with recommendations to address risk and process improvement opportunities.
- Serve as the primary resource for Claims, Sales, Legal, IT, Reinsurers, and internal/external auditors on best practices, processes, and case-specific guidance.
- Maintain, organize, and update all best-practice documentation.
- Proven experience working in Group Underwriting
- Formal training or experience in developing and leading adult training
- Expert group risk analysis and pricing knowledge
- Understanding of and competence with alternate funding arrangements
- Ability to work independently researching and implementing best practices with respect to training adults
- Proven experience and on-going interest and passion for documentation and course preparation and delivery of interactive training sessions using a variety of methods (web-based training, classroom training, job aids, multi-media visual aids and reference material)
- Strong Organizational skills with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines with limited supervision in a high paced environment where resource changes have an immediate impact on our ability to meet service standards on both new and existing business
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Superior mathematical skills
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Expert computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, pricing systems, etc)
