Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger management.
Perform monthly and annual closing processes.
Prepare financial statements and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Generate relevant financial reports and analysis to support informed decision-making.
Identify errors and suggest improvements for efficiency and cost control.
Review and recommend changes to accounting systems and procedures.
Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.Cost Accounting :
Analyze production costs, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Prepare cost reports, variance analyses, and margin analyses to support decision-making.
Maintain and update standard costing systems to reflect market or production changes.
Review and update product standard costs and intercompany pricing as needed.
Calculate margins by product and customer.
Analyze sales and inventory turnover.
Support operational efficiency calculations and variance analysis.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts.
Approve changes to master data and integrate updates into SAGE when necessary.Budgeting and Forecasting :
Contribute to long-term financial planning and forecasting.
Participate in setting financial standards and forecasting processes.
Monitor departmental and team expenses and recommend corrective actions when needed.Leadership and Team Management :
Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development.
Help define departmental goals.
Coordinate cross-functional efforts to streamline financial processes.
Document operational processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.Audit and Compliance :
Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
Maintain accurate records to support tax filings and legal obligations.
Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional certification (CPA, CMA) preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in cost accounting or financial analysis.
Proven experience managing accounting teams.
Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP.
Solid knowledge of market trends and hands-on experience with accounting software.
Strong numerical and quantitative skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, SAGE) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Bilingual in French and English.
