If that sounds like you, join us and be part of our meaningful journey!About the Role:The Communications Assistant supports the Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) by promoting its mission, programs, and events to both internal and external audiences. This role creates clear and compelling messaging and delivers it through diverse channels, including social media, websites, and newsletters. The aim is to ensure stakeholders understand SCCSS, what it does, and how they can get involved.The Communications Assistant is responsible for content creation, graphic design, writing, editing, and proofreading content for digital, print, and social media. This role also involves applying brand guidelines consistently across all communications and updating and maintaining website content. The Communications Assistant reports to the Communications & Fund Development Coordinator.What You’ll Do:Content Creation & Coordination
- Write, edit, proofread, and publish content for print, digital, social media, websites, and event materials.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather stories, quotes, photos, and statistics to highlight the organization’s impact.
- Maintain content calendars and support the development of the annual report.
- Create and format materials using Adobe InDesign while applying brand guidelines consistently across all communications.
- Edit and resize images, create basic graphics, and prepare files for both print and digital distribution.
- Apply knowledge of print production requirements, including bleeds, vector formats, and color profiles.
- Update and maintain website content.
- Manage and schedule social media content.
- Support email marketing campaigns.
- Assist with logistics for interviews, photo opportunities, and media events.
- Assist with communications planning for events, campaigns, and initiatives.
- Maintain organized communications files and asset libraries.
- Track and report on performance metrics.
- Diploma or degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite, and comfort using Canva.
- Understanding of brand management and print production best practices, including bleeds, color profiles, and font management.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrated experience creating and publishing content across web, social media, and print platforms.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt communication for diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of the impacts of colonization, including residential schools, on Indigenous peoples.
- Experience with email marketing tools is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator is considered an asset.
- Experience in the non-profit sector is considered an asset.

- This position works in an office environment with time spent at various locations (indoors and outdoors) for different events and to provide support to volunteers and staff.
- Lifting and moving of supplies, office supplies and other related equipment.
- Moving of furniture such as setting up tables and chairs.
