Our client is seeking a talented Senior Accountant/Assistant Contoller to support both corporate accounting operations and project-based financial oversight within a growing organization. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role combines general ledger accounting with project financial management, working closely with finance, operations, and project teams to ensure accurate reporting, cost tracking, and financial insight.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Accounting
  • Set up new projects, including budgets, cost codes, and billing structures
  • Track project costs, commitments, and performance against budget
  • Prepare monthly project financial reports, forecasts, and cost-to-complete analysis
  • Review and validate project invoices, purchase orders, expenses, and payroll allocations
  • Process progress and milestone billings where applicable
  • Partner with project managers to monitor budgets, identify risks, and manage financial expectations
  • Assist with project contract review for billing and revenue recognition requirements
  • Reconcile project accounts and support project closeout activities
Corporate Accounting
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries for the month-end and year-end close
  • Perform bank, balance sheet, and GL reconciliations
  • Support accounts payable, receivable, and cash flow monitoring
  • Prepare financial statements, management reporting, and variance analysis
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE and internal control requirements
  • Support external audit processes and maintain organized financial records
  • Contribute to process improvements and reporting enhancements
Qualifications
  • Progress toward a CPA designation is required
  • 5+ years of experience in financial reporting at the intermediate or senior accountant level
  • Experience in project-based environments, such as construction or engineering, is required
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems
  • Experience supporting external audits and financial reporting cycles
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within structured month-end timelines
